History
How it all began.
It was following a carol service in December 2008 that God put a desire on a number of mens hearts to spread the Good News of the Gospel among Ulsters bandsmen and women, their families and supporters.
During the early months of 2009 arrangements where made and the first meeting was held in Thomas St. Methodist Church, Portadown. This meeting was to discuss ideas and most importantly pray to God for the guideance and direction needed as how best to serve him.
Over the next few months many more meetings where held and through a lot of prayer it is our belief that God started to shape the group.
The numbers increased, the ideas were free flowing and it soon became evident that God had a much greater plan than any of us had ever thought. However it was not all straight forward and as you would expect Satan did his best to destroy the work that God was doing through this group of men. Some tough decisons had to be made and each of us knew that not only were we being challenged as a group but also as individuals. Despite the difficulties however our faith was strong and God carried us through.
By this stage there was a core of men dedicated to this still nameless outreach team. A group of men dedicated to Christ and fullfilling His will through this God led group. Band Of Brothers had now reached the stage where God had brought these men who together were unified in their love for the Lord Jesus and prepared to step out in faith as former bandsmen testifying and sharing in the life changing experience of the Gospel.
A launch night was arranged for Sunday 31st May 2009 and held in Armagh Elim with guest speaker Sammy Graham. The response was amazing and in the prayer time prior to the service and during there can be no doubt of Gods presence. Almost 300 people enjoyed the evening of music and testimony and clearly God was blessing the Band Of Brothers and preparing them to do His work throughout the marching season.
Having embraced Pastor Stephen Mitchell (Newtonards) as the groups pastoral carer we set about the task of forming a constitution and electing members for specific roles within the group. Now with a name, constitution and structure in place the Band Of Brothers were prepared to attend the first parade.
Killcluney Volunteers F.B annual parade in Markethill was to be were God led the group to begin His work, reaching out to and spreading the life changing news of the Gospel and Love of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout the bandsmen and women of Northern Ireland.
